Anaemia
Anaemia

Red blood cells carry oxygen around the body. Anaemia is a condition where
the blood is unable to carry enough oxygen due to a low number of red blood
cells, or because each red blood cell is unable to carry as much oxygen as
normal. Common symptoms of anaemia include feeling tired, faint, or breathless -
these reflect a lack of oxygen being delivered to tissues and a build up of
carbon dioxide.
There are several different types of anaemia, and each one has a different
cause. One of the most common causes is iron deficiency. Other causes can
include pregnancy, heavy periods, poor iron absorption caused by certain
intestinal diseases, bleeding from the intestines, and a lack of certain
vitamins, such as folic acid and vitamin B12.
Iron deficiency anaemia is the most common type of anaemia. The symptoms of iron
deficiency anaemia may include: sore tongue (glossitis), painful cracks at the
corners of the mouth (cheilosis), difficulty in swallowing (dysphagia), brittle,
flaking nails, spoon-shaped nails, pale skin (pallor), and loss of weight.
It is important that the underlying cause of the anaemia is identified before
planning a treatment strategy.
Supplements which contain iron along with its cofactors to help its absorption
are recommended for the treatment of anaemia. Liquid formulations are a great
method of delivering extra Iron because they are very readily absorbed and
utilized by the body. Likewise, iron and B12 supplementation is required during
Pernicious anaemia; both of these nutrients are found in the Total Multi
Rejuvenation Complex.
As lack of absorption may be a contributing factor, the Digest Tincture
may be helpful to improve digestive function and absorption.
Apples, apricots, asparagus, bananas, broccoli, leafy
greens, parsley, peas, plums, prunes, raisins and squash are all good foods to
include in the diet to combat anaemia due to their iron, Vitamin C and
bioflavonoid content.
