IBS, or Irritable Bowel Syndrome, is a condition in which the rhythmic muscular contractions of the digestive tract become irregular and uncoordinated, and the normal movement of food and waste material is impaired. Typical symptoms include cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, and alternating constipation and diarrhoea.  Specific causes for IBS are yet to be discovered, however people who suffer from IBS appear to have a large intestine that is particularly sensitive and reacts to certain foods and stress. The immune system, may also be involved. Dairy and Wheat containing foods are commonly associated with IBS programs. By avoiding these foods and then reintroducing them into the diet it is possible to monitor their effect.  Stress is also another large component of IBS.
