Ear Candle Therapy
Ear Candle therapy, also known as Thermo Auricular Therapy is a non-invasive treatment. A candle, which is essentially a hollow tube, constructed of cotton and wax. and is inserted into the ear and forms a seal. The end of the candle is then lit. Some claim ear candling not only clears the ears but helps with sinus problems, headaches and soothes the mind.
Ear Candles
Traditionally hand-made, the ear-candles are manufactured with greatest care by using natural pure beeswax and unbleached cotton.
The therapy by means of ear-candles originates from the peoples of Asia and North America.
Its mode of action is divided into two steps:
1. The low pressure caused by burning the ear-candle, the so-called chimney effect, leads to a modulation of pressure in the sinuses. It results in a feeling of being well in the ear and head area.
2. The pressure flow transports concentrated steam into the interior, which is blended with vegetable active agents and has a positive and stimulating effect. Hereby possible deposits of impurities will be separated.
Directions:
For safety reasons do not carry out the treatment by yourself.
A relaxed atmosphere should be the precondition of the treatment.
The patient should lie flatly and comfortably on his side.
After lighting the ear-candle it's shorter and marked side should be carefully inserted into the patient's auditory canal until the canal is firmly closed. Both ears should always be treated one after the other. Totally the treatment lasts 10 to 15 minutes. The candles should burn down to approximately 4 cm above the ear. They should be extinguished in a glass of water. Afterwards, remnants in the auditory canal should be removed.
