It brings together three natural and organic herbal treatments (elderflower, eyebright, and camomile) in one remedy.
1 ml of the tincture contains 500 mg of the herb.
Eyebright for itchy eyes
Eyebright is also known as Euphrasia or Augentrostkraut and has a cosmopolitan distribution, meaning it can be found all over the world. It is actually genus of 450 similar plants, which readily cross pollinate. Fortunately for the harbalist these species all possess similar healing properties. Its flower are white, violet, and blue, and often have yellow pollen to help guide insects to them. Eyebright was used by the ancient Greeks and Romans, and English herbalist Nicolas Culpepper wrote of its healing properties in the middle ages. It is traditionally blended in either a poultice or a tea. Fushi have concentrated its essence in a tincture, so a few drops go much further. As the suggests it is used to treat eye irritations and infections.
Elderflower to soothe the nose and throat
Most of us know and love elderflower as a fragrant summer syrup that is diluted to make a refreshing summer drink. It also makes a heady country wine. It was once thought to be related to the honeysuckle but studies have shown that it belongs in its own family Adoxaceae. Elderflowers are cream or white, and you can often spot black, blue, or red, elderberries nearby.
Elderflowers are loved by butterflies and other pollinating insects. They also contain high amounts of vitamin c, and the syrup is used to relieve sore throats. As such elderflower is often given traditionally to those suffering from cold or flu. It is great for helping relieve the itchy throat associated with hayfever.
Camomile as an anti-inflammatory
Camomile is most famous for being a soothing tea, best taken before bedtime to help with a good night’s sleep or an upset stomach. The flowers are common across Europe and the Americas. The plant is both a relaxant and very mild antiseptic and anti inflammatory. As such it is great for treating swollen, sore and puffy eyes. When combined with eyebright and elderflower it is a potent traditional treatment for hayfever and summer allergies.
